About
Why Choose Kelly as Your Counselor?
Kelly Ward was born and raised in Texas. He grew up in a small town in Deep East Texas, in a family of counselors. His mom counsel’s adult victims of sexual abuse. She also worked as a hospice chaplain. Before his father’s death he was a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and was a parole and probation counselor for Harris County, Texas.
Kelly married his high school sweetheart Alisa. Kelly & Alisa have four children and five grandchildren.
Kelly earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Services and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling.
He is registered with the States of Missouri and Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Kelly is also a Psychological first Aid instructor for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, a Certified Mental Health Volunteer with the American Red Cross, the mental health chairman for the Harris County Long Term Recovery Committee, a Certified Family Teacher by the National Teaching-Family Association, and an endorsed mental health chaplain. Additionally, Kelly is an adjunct professor and process group facilitator for the John Townsend Institute at Concordia University Irvine. He is also an intensive marriage therapist for Hope Restored, a crisis marriage counseling program.
Additionally he was the lead counselor for the Red Cross Shelter in Joplin, MO the first week after the 2011 storm. Kelly also provided trauma counseling for victims of Hurricane Harvey, and was a trauma counselor for those affected by the school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas in May of 2018 and the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas in May of 2022.
When he has free time, Kelly enjoys reading, writing, cooking and golf. He also loves The Food Network especially the show, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and visits DDD locations when he travels.
Even in childhood Kelly felt a passion to help others. Through out his life, he has found many opportunities to serve others. Working as a therapist, his desire is to offer unconditional support and help.
