Kelly wears several hats. Not only is he in private practice as a licensed counselor, but also he and his wife Alisa run a non profit organization. Sole Mission provides new well-fitting shoes to kids in need in the USA. Recently, Mike Rowe, and the team from the Facebook Watch Show Returning the Favor surprised Kelly & Alisa and filmed an episode of RTF featuring Sole Mission. The episode will air June 18th on Facebook Watch. Check back here for a link when it is available. BTW, the shoes Mike is holding are size 20's. Sole Mission keeps a few big sizes on hand, just in case a big footed kid needs a new pair of shoes.
Through Sole Mission, Kelly has provided counseling service free of charge during disasters and most recently immediately following the school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas

Kelly Ward was born and raised in Texas. He grew up in a small town in Deep East Texas, in a family of counselors. His mom counsel’s adult victims of sexual abuse. She also worked as a hospice chaplain. Before his father’s death he was a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and was a parole and probation counselor for Harris County, TX.
Kelly married his high school sweetheart Alisa. Kelly & Alisa have four children and three grandchildren.
For over twenty years Kelly has worked with children & adolescents and their families in various venues including Presbyterian Children’s Services in Waxahachie, TX. a Boys Town Nebraska site, and principal and administrator for a private elementary school in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Kelly & Alisa also founded and directed a non-profit organization in the inner city of San Antonio, TX working with children and families in poverty. For the last thirteen years, Kelly has worked with three national organizations (KidCare America After School Mentoring Programs, Rural Compassion, & Sole Mission) as a consultant to organizations in communities working with children and teens.
Kelly currently holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Services and a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling. He is registered with the States of Missouri and Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Kelly is also a Psychological first Aid instructor for the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency, a Certified Mental Health Volunteer with the American Red Cross, a Certified facilitator for the Prepare/Enrich Marriage Counseling Program, and a Certified Family Teacher by the National Teaching-Family Association, an endorsed mental health chaplain, and, an adjunct professor at two colleges. Additionally he was the lead counselor for the Red Cross Shelter in Joplin, MO the first week after the 2011 storm. Kelly also provided trauma counseling for victims of Hurricane Harvey, and was a trauma counselor for those affected by the school Shooting in Santa Fe, Texas in May of 2018.
When he has free time, Kelly enjoys reading, writing, cooking and golf. He also loves The Food Network especially the show, Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and visits DDD locations when he travels.
Even in childhood Kelly felt a passion to help others. Through out his life, he has found many opportunities to serve others. Working as a therapist, his desire is to offer unconditional support and help.
